Policy Statement on Use of Parish Facilities and Furniture

June 27, 2016

General Policy:

1)   Given the needs of the elementary faith formation program and parish elementary school, along with the needs of the many parish groups and organizations that meet regularly and conduct events throughout the year, all parish facilities and furnishings are primarily reserved for parish use.

2)   Thus, the church and its auxiliary spaces, all the facilities of the education center (including the social hall and the gymnasium), as well as the offices and meeting rooms of the ministry center are not ordinarily available for personal use by non-parishioners or non-parish groups.

3)   On occasion, one or more parish facilities may be made available as a service to an agency of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, to a neighboring Catholic parish or private Catholic school. Requests for such use should be forwarded to the pastor at the parish office in a timely manner.

4)   By special exception, one or another parish facility may be made available on occasion as a service to an agency of the public community, such as the local township or public school district. All such requests for exceptional use should be forwarded to the pastor at the parish office sufficiently in advance of the proposed date and will be confirmed in writing in a timely manner.  A facility usage request form is available for this purpose.

5)   Whenever permission is given for an occasional or exceptional use of parish facilities by an archdiocesan or public agency, there is no fixed fee for the use of the parish facilities; a free will offering is welcome at the discretion of those making use of the facilities. A non-diocesan agency must provide proof of liability insurance coverage in advance of the usage.

6)   The use of parish facilities for any political activities is subject to the established archdiocesan guidelines for such use. More information is available at the parish office (610-321-1200).

Policy on Personal Use of Parish Facilities by Saint Elizabeth Parishioners:

1)   Depending upon the scheduling of parish events and the availability of a minister from Saint Elizabeth (if applicable), the church or chapel may be used by parishioners for liturgical celebrations of an individual or personal nature, such as a special wedding anniversary, a family memorial Mass and the like. Request for such use should be forwarded to the parish office sufficiently in advance of the proposed date and will be confirmed in a timely manner.  There is no fixed fee for the use of the church or chapel on such occasions; a free will offering is welcome.

2)   The meeting facilities of the ministry center and the education center (including the social hall and the gymnasium), are not normally available for use by parishioners for family social functions and related events of a personal nature such as wedding receptions, anniversary celebrations, graduation parties or special birthday parties, etc.

3)   Exceptions to this policy may be granted at the discretion of the pastor or his delegate on a case by case basis.

Policy on Outside Use of Parish Facility Furniture:

1)   The tables, chairs and related furnishings of the parish are not available for rent for off-site use by individuals or groups, whether parishioners or non-parishioners.

2)   No parish electronic equipment (including computers, Smart boards, DVD/VCR units, LCD projectors, projection screens, telephones and accessories, etc.), classroom furniture, nor science lab equipment is available for off-site use, whether by parishioners or by non-parishioners.

3)   On occasion, some parish facility furniture (including tables and chairs from the social hall and/ or meeting rooms) may be available for at-home use by parishioners of Saint Elizabeth, with the explicit permission of the pastor or his delegate.

4)   Parishioners who are granted permission for at-home use of any parish facility furniture are responsible for the safe pick-up and return of the furniture, on a schedule determined by the parish director of maintenance and facilities.

5)   Parishioners who are granted permission for at-home use of any parish facility furniture are also responsible for the cost of repair and/or replacement of any furniture damaged in transport or use.  The fair market cost of repair or replacement will be determined by the parish business manager.
