Safe Environment Requirements

  

PA state law and Archdiocesan policy requires all church personnel and volunteers obtain background checks (Part I) prior to beginning work/service and training (Part II). PLEASE SUBMIT COMPLETED FORMS TO THE PARISH SERVICES OFFICE.

 

All Volunteers (including coaches)

(Part I – PA law) Background Check & Clearance Requirements are as follows:

All three clearances must be renewed every 5 years and submitted to the Parish Services Office.

            1a.       Federal Fingerprint Background Check *

                             IF NOT Pennsylvania resident for 10 continuous years.

                                OR

            1b.       Volunteer Application Disclosure form *

                        IF Pennsylvania resident for 10 continuous years.

            2.         Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check *

            3.         Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance *

(Part II – Archdiocese of Philadelphia Policy) Training Requirements are as follows:

All volunteers who have regular contact with children must complete the following training and return certificates of attendance/completion to the Parish Services Office:

            1.         Safe Environment Part I: Protecting God’s Children class (in person)**

Protecting God's Children Affadavit must be returned to the Parish Services Office along with all other requirements. Click here for the Affadavit.

            2.         Safe Environment Part II: Mandatory Reporter of Suspected Child Abuse

Must be completed on-line through the OCYP website at www.childyouthprotection.org under “Training Institute”.

Coaches

In addition, all coaches must attend the Archdiocese of Philadelphia CYO Coaches Orientation session. Locations of the sessions can be viewed here:

Please turn in a copy of your certificate of attendance to the parish office to be kept on file.

 

Those who do not comply will be moved to “inactive status” and not be permitted to work or volunteer until all requirements have been met.
