Our Mission:

The goal of the lector ministry as taught by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops is that the "faithful by listening to the readings from the sacred texts may develop in their hearts a warm and living love for Sacred Scripture."

What We Do:

During the Liturgy of the Word at Mass, the lector proclaims either the first or second reading from Sacred Scripture. Before they serve their first Mass, lectors attend two hour comprehensive, individual or small group training to help them be more relaxed, confident and effective. They are then assigned about one reading each month at a Mass time of their preference.
