Our Mission:
The Spirit provides an engaging and informative vehicle of communication with the entire community of believers that make up Saint Elizabeth Church, through which all have an opportunity to learn more about our parish, about one another and about our Catholic Faith. The Spirit aims both to inform and to inspire its readers in a straightforward, consistent and compact format.
The specific purposes of The Spirit are to:
foster a sense of fellowship among all our parishioners: young and old, families and individuals, active and inactive alike;
promote Catholic Stewardship among our parishioners, recognizing those parishioners who offer inspirational examples of what it means to practice stewardship, both in personal life and as a member of our parish;
provide spiritual insights ("food for thought") that help our parishioners grow in their faith and encourage all to know and love the Lord more deeply;
inform readers about the mission, needs and activities of various parish organizations, groups and endeavors, and how they may become involved and/or find support in these activities;
publicize and celebrate milestone events in the life of our parish community.
All parishioners are welcome to join our committee at any time of the year. No training is required but a love for writing or design is helpful. We provide specific article guidelines to all new writers. Editorial meetings are held 4 times a year. For further information, please contact: Deacon Barry Midwood at 610-321-1200 or by email
FAQS
Do you have to be a professional writer to participate?
No, if you are able to write a 200+ word article, design a newsletter, or take photos then we need your help!
Is it a major time commitment?
No, we only meet once a quarter and then you complete your assignment on your own time. Assignments typically consist of drafting one 300-word article per quarter.
Is there an age limit for joining this committee?
Good writing is our only criteria so if you are a high school freshman and like to write, consider joining the newsletter committee to bolster your own writing portfolio.
