Repair Café comes to Downingtown
What do you do with a lamp that does not work, or with a bike when the wheel runs out of true, or with a garment that needs mending? Toss it? No way! Repair Café Downingtown is organizing the first Repair Café in the area to be held from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM at the Central Presbyterian Church, 100 West Uwchlan Ave., Downingtown, on Saturday, January 14.
At the Repair Café everything is about making repairs and reducing waste sent to landfills. Various volunteer experienced repairers will be available to help make all possible repairs free of charge. Visitors can either bring their own repair materials or reimburse the Repair Coaches for the purchase of new materials such as bike parts, lamp parts, plugs, switches and wire (sold at cost). People visiting the Repair Café will bring their broken but treasured items from home, toasters, lamps, hair dryers, clothes, bikes, toys, ... anything that is broken is welcome. Repair Café Downingtown will hold subsequent Repair Cafes on March 11, May 13, July 8, Sept. 9 and Nov. 11, in 2023. For more information contact Bob Berkowitz at:
