Bulletin - August 20, 2017

A Word from Father Mullin

Those of you on hand for the 8:00 AM Mass last Sunday may recall my speaking about the Interfaith Dialogue held in the parish social hall back in June in which more than 175 Christians, Jews and Muslims came together for prayer, conversation and a shared meal. The gathering was a powerful witness to the critical need for open-mindedness, charity and mutual respect among members of varied faith traditions.

In the aftermath of the disturbing demonstrations and tragic violence in Charlottesville, Virginia this past week, all of us are challenged, both as disciples and as Americans, to re-examine our attitudes, conversations about and behavior towards others, regardless of their religious, racial, ethnic or cultural identities.

May the Holy Spirit continue to lead us in sustaining a holy and faithful parish community at Saint Elizabeth, for unless the Lord build the house, they labor in vain who build it.

Father Tom Mullin
