Bulletin - March 18, 2018

A Word from Father Mullin

Jeremiah’s message (today’s first reading) is quite timely for these final two weeks of Lent:

All, from least to greatest, shall know me, says the Lord, for I will forgive their evildoing and remember their sins no more.

Do you get it? When we experience forgiveness for our sins, we come to know more fully who God really is!

It’s not too late to experience God’s merciful forgiveness in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Come out for confession this Wednesday, March 21, at 7:00 PM, or this Saturday, March 24, 9:00-11:00 AM. A number of visiting confessors will be available on both occasions.

Fr. Tom Mullin

Holy Week, 2018

Dear Parishioners of Saint Elizabeth:

Greetings for Holy Week and Easter from all our parish staff!

I am happy to invite you to join with our parish community and the Universal Church in celebrating the Paschal Mystery of Christ's Passion, Death and Resurrection. Your active participation in the liturgies of Holy Week will enrich your faith, deepen your personal commitment to Jesus Christ and strengthen your sense of belonging to our parish community here at Saint Elizabeth.

The schedule of liturgical services at Saint Elizabeth during Holy Week is as follows:

Palm Sunday, March 24-25: regular weekend Mass schedule, with Saturday Vigil Mass at 5:30 PM and Mass on Sunday at 8:00, 9:30 and 11:30 AM. Palm will be blessed within the Eucharistic Liturgy and distributed by the ushers and greeters.

Holy Thursday, March 29: Mass of the Lord’s Supper in church at 7:30 PM with Solemn Procession & Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament in the chapel between 9:00 PM and Midnight.

Good Friday, March 30: Celebration of the Lord’s Passion at 3:00 PM; Holy Communion is distributed only at this service.

Holy Saturday, March 31: Blessing of Easter Food in the social hall at 11:00 AM.

Easter Vigil, March 31: Mass at 8:00 PM with Sacramental Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion) and Reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church.

Easter Sunday, April 1: regular Sunday morning Mass schedule (8:00, 9:30 & 11:30 AM).

I encourage you to share your faith in the Risen Lord by talking about the profound spiritual meaning of these holy days with your family members and friends. As Saint Paul reminds us: “If Christ has not been raised from the dead, our faith is in vain, and we who hope in Christ are the most pitiable people of all!” (1 Cor. 15/17).

I also remind you that your generous financial support at Easter complements your regular stewardship contributions to Saint Elizabeth during the year and reflects our shared commitment as disciples of Jesus Christ to care for one another’s needs. Thank you for your continued generosity to our parish community and your practice of a stewardship of treasure all year long!

I look forward to having your family join us at Easter. And I pray with you and for you, that the Risen Lord may bring many blessings upon each of you and upon all your loved ones throughout the Easter Season!

Sincerely yours,

(Reverend) Thomas M. Mullin, Pastor
