St. Ignatius Spiritual Exercises

19th Annotation Small Prayer Group

Do you want to better understand God’s plan in your life? Are you looking to get more from your belief in God? Are you open to a deeper way of prayer and mindfulness?

Saint Ignatius developed the Spiritual Exercises in the 16th century as a prayerful way to better hear and respond to God’s call and His infinite love and mercy. Through prayer, scripture contemplation, the practice of silence and group discussion, we’re provided a highly flexible structure to better know, love and serve God in more personal ways.

This small group Ignatian Spiritual Exercises program is offered to help all Christians attain these goals. While the Ignatian Exercises were designed as an intense 30-day retreat, this Program will use the 19th Annotation, which is the same spiritual program paced for our daily lives.

The primary graces sought in the Exercises are to “know Jesus more intimately, love Him more dearly and serve Him more fully” – St. Ignatius

To benefit from a Spiritual Exercises prayer-group, the recommended essentials are:

1.A willingness to spend 30-45 minutes of directed prayer every day;

2.A quiet, comfortable place for that daily prayer;

3.A notebook to journal your prayer experiences.

4.Participate in weekly group meetings

Please consider joining your fellow Saint Elizabeth parishioners for this deeply moving spiritual journey. Weekly meetings will be 60-90 minutes and held for 12 weeks. Each small group will consist of no more than 6-8 people. The groups will begin to meet in mid-September. All parishioners who seek a more mutual and vibrant relationship with God are welcome.

Join us for an exploratory session on Monday August 20 at 7:00 pm in St. Mark Conference Room to address any questions and further clarification. Or contact George Marshalek at 484.942.6974 or gmarsh54@comcast.net. May God gently inform you on whether this program might be right for you. Cost is $15 for the book.
