Help Wanted: St. Joseph Parish, Downingtown is seeking a part-time cook to prepare dinners for the 4 resident priests at the rectory. We are looking for someone who likes to cook, has culinary experience, or is a cooking professional interested in some additional hours. The chef works independently in the rectory kitchen and would also purchase groceries as needed (using business credit card. Position would occasionally need to cook for large groups/events hosted at the rectory. This position is part-time, approximately three hours on Monday through Thursday evenings (during dinner hours), and approximately 3 hours on Monday afternoon for shopping. Volunteer English Program in Chester County: Become a Volunteer Tutor! Tutors provide weekly, one-to-one English language instruction for adult immigrants and refugees who speak one of over 22 languages spoken in Chester County. Malvern Retreat House: Year of Saint Joseph - Every 3rd Thursday, there will be a presentation and discussion about St. Joseph. Each month we will focus on the wonders of St. Joseph. We will be having a St. Joseph Retreat on June 11-12. This weekend retreat will focus on St. Joseph. There will be Mass, private prayer time, talks & discussion. This is a wonderful way to celebrate the year of St. Joseph and honor this wonderful Saint. Cost is $250 pp onsite; $75 virtual. Retreat begins at 5:00 PM Friday evening and concludes on Saturday after a 4:00 PM Mass with Consecration to Saint Joseph. On Sunday, June 6, 5:00-9:00 PM, we will be having a Father/Daughter Evening of Reflection. The theme is “Finding Joy and Purpose in Your Family”. The Retreat Director is Dan Tarrant. Beginning in the summer of 2021, anyone interested in making a private retreat at MRH will be welcomed. The first two opportunities for private retreats will be June 1-4 and August 23-27. St. Peter Parish Respect Life Committee: The Respect Life Committee is sponsoring “Wonderfully Made: A Theology of the Body Retreat for High School Girls” from Friday, June 4, 7:00 PM through Sunday, June 6, 11:30:AM. Pope John Paul II High School: Want to have some Panther fun this summer? PJP will be offering  summer camps for students entering grades  K through 9 as of September 2021. All camps take place from Monday through Thursday. Half-day camps run from 8:30-11:30 AM and 12:30-3:30 PM. Both morning and afternoon sessions for many camps are being offered. Ronald McDonald Virtual Summer Camp: Ronald McDonald Camp (RMC) creates a nurturing community for kids with cancer and their siblings every summer. Most years, RMC takes place in the beautiful Pocono Mountains, but in order to remain true to our mission of safety and inclusivity, this year’s camp will remain a virtual camp week, ensuring that every camper in our community can participate. Virtual RMC is for children ages 7 to 17 who are currently undergoing treatment or who have been treated for cancer. Each camper may have one sibling attend with them. The camp runs from August 15-20 and activity sessions will be scheduled during the camp week from 10am-12noon and 1pm-3pm. We’ll also have fun evening activities from 7-9pm and a private website for campers to explore on their own time.
