                 Misión Santa Maria

“Whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.”
                                                                              Matthew 25/40

MISSION STATEMENT: The purpose of Misión Santa Maria, Madre de Dios is to evangelize and strengthen the faith of the Hispanic Community in a stable manner which enables them to identify with the local church in a language and culture which they can understand and find welcoming.  The Hispanic Community has been steadily growing in size since the 1950’s. The response of the Church has also changed during these years to respond to the needs of ministering to the Hispanic Community.  The present and near future are pointing to an increase in the number of Hispanic families in the area with young children.  These families, which are the future of the Hispanic community, need the support of the Church in educating their children in the faith, and in living out their faith in Southern Chester County.

In response to this need, Anthony Cardinal Bevilacqua approved the recommendation to establish Misión Santa Maria, Madre de Dios to serve the Hispanic Community of Chester County.

WHO IS SERVED:  The Hispanic Community of Chester County.

FINANCIAL NEED:  Monies are needed for transportation expenses incurred to transport children to and from CCD, to medical appointments, etc.  Monies are also needed for assisting in crises moments such as providing food and emergency housing for abused women.  The Misión Center is visited by approximately 100 to 150 people each day for Social Services, Advocacy, Translation Services, Transportation and matters associated with the practice of their faith.
